About Course

This online training package provides 24-hour community care settings with an extensive information and guidance on how to screen a patient using the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool and how to implement a ‘Food First’ Nutritional Action Plan depending on the outcome of the screening. It also provides training on how to rescreen the patient and refer a patient directly to the dietetic services if appropriate.

There is a section for FAQ’s and also a ten question quiz and six question case study, 100% must be obtained to pass the course.

It is important that as you go through each section on the course, you click ‘Complete Lesson’ at the top right hand of the page.

Once you have completed the course, you can use our Audit Tool to review practice within your care home. Please send any completed audit’s to rdash.dietetics@nhs.net

Upon admission to care homes, 35% of residents are malnourished (BAPEN, 2007) and recent studies suggest medium and high risk malnutrition risk, highest prevalence is in care homes (60%) (BAPEN, 2021).
